Honey Bees

General Information

Honey bees should be submitted dead and in a tightly sealed (leak proof)  wide-mouth container containing one pint (about 500 ml) of standard 70% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol).or 70% methyl alcohol. Select mature honey bees, captured alive and euthanized by placement in the alcohol.  A minimum of 100 bees are required for testing; submit as many as 200 bees if possible.  Label each container with the owner’s name, yard identification, and hive number.

Submit the bees to the laboratory in a leak proof container.  Special shipping regulations may apply if using commercial courier or the US Postal Service.
