Clinical Pathology

Cytology services are available only at the Auburn Laboratory. Slides of air-dried tissue impressions should be submitted in slide mailers, accompanied by the surgical biopsy form.

Be certain to note on the accession form if the impression preparations are for Chlamydophyla cytology (psittacosis suspects), as special stains are required.

Samples for hematology and clinical chemistry tests are referred to the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine Clinical Pathology Laboratory. Veterinarians with specimens that require only clinical pathology are encouraged to submit specimens directly to the AU Clinical Pathology Laboratory http://www.vetmed.auburn.edu/index.pl/clinical_pathology.
